My Book

My career aspirations after I moved on from my roles in HR were never the same, I wanted to stay in this line of business, helping others achieve their own goals, helping the business keep the talent they needed, helping my organisation feed the talent pipeline.

Unfortunately, the company had other aspiration for me and I moved back to a senior operational role. I gave it my all, the only way I knew how, build my team for success, develop them to achieve their true potential, give them the support, guidance they required, whilst building the business to ensure profitability.

Something was missing, my heart was not in the same place anymore! I left the organisation looking for something to challenge me again, I just could not find it no matter how hard I looked, how hard I tried. Again, I had taken senior operational roles, I was successful in what I was doing, I put 100% effort into each role, each task, I just knew something was missing.

Then one day my new organisation had decided to roll out a new engineering and development program and asked me to take a lead role in ensuring the success of this program. I worked on improving this program during the evenings at the weekends and ended up taking a lead role in running the program. From career fairs to career day hiring events and all the way through to the on boarding processes and procedures.

I started to feel alive again, I became a trusted adviser to the regional Talent Development manager. I then preceded to write and develop a mentoring/mentee program that would ensure our engineers, management team and mentors all had an easy step by step guide to the importance of mentoring employees and ensuring we get the best out of them at all times.

I then preceded to write and develop a mentoring/mentee program that would ensure our engineers, management team and mentors all had an easy step by step guide to the importance of mentoring employees and ensuring we get the best out of them at all times.

Again, for the second time in my career it had been noticed by the senior global talent team that I had qualities to offer the organisation in terms of talent development and was offered the new role of regional talent development manager. This was a newly developed role within the company and I was super excited and full of great ideas on how to get close to our top talent and ensure they have the tools to not only get through this tragic Oil & Gas down turn, but come out of it stronger, smarter and ready for any new challenges ahead.

It was short lived, I moved back to the UK on the 6th November 2016 after being away from the UK over 11 years to resume my new role as Regional Talent Development Manager.

After only 4 weeks in the newly developed role the company had to make some very difficult decisions regarding support function costs. They HAD to reduce these costs in line with our peers and my new role could possibly be up for redundancy. Only a few weeks later I got the dreaded news, my role was being dissolved.
